Toyota Motor Corp.’s planned recall of as many as 270,000 Lexus cars may cost the automaker 20 billion yen ($228 million), the Asahi newspaper said, citing the company. Toyota said yesterday that the vehicles may have a problem that causes engines to stall.

About 90,000 Lexus and Toyota vehicles will be recalled because of an engine defect. The Lexus models involved were sold in the U.S., but the company has not decided whether to recall those cars. Toyota Motor Corp. will recall Lexus cars with faulty engines that could stall while in motion, the company said in Japan on Friday.
